The Federation of International Walking Football Associations (FIWFA) is the international Governing Body for Walking Football and was formed in 2018 with the aim of promoting and developing the game of walking football throughout the world. Part of our remit was to organise international fixtures and tournaments between the walking football associations across the globe.

The inaugural World Cup in 2021 is the culmination of our efforts.

International Walking Football

Who are FIWFA?

FIWFA is the international governing body for Walking Football and is based in England. The prime roles of FIWFA will be to promote and govern the sport world-wide, protecting its integrity and inclusivity, establish uniform laws of the game, and to organise International matches and tournaments. FIWFA will embrace the highest standards in best practice in our governance, transparency and accountability.

2021 World Cup

The Inaugural Walking Football World Cup

AGE GROUPS

Nations can enter teams in the over 50’s and over 60’s. They can also enter a team in just one age group.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

There will be two groups in each age category and teams will play group games and a knockout stage.

COMPETING NATIONS

We’re inviting a maximum of 16 teams per age group. No nation can enter more one team per age group.

MATCH FORMAT

All games will be 6 a side and in accordance with the laws of the game (LOTG), with free substitution.

SQUAD SIZE

There will be a maximum of 12 players per side and two coaches. This applies to each age group.

MATCH DURATION

Group matches and knock-out stages will be 40 minutes in duration with a five minute half time break.

Manchester, England May 2021

Fantastic host city and fantastic playing venue.

All of the group games and the finals will be played at the Manchester Academy Stadium. This facility is part of the Etihad campus and is the venue where Manchester City Women play their home games. The playing surface and facilities at the stadium are first class.

Register your nations interest in becoming one of the teams in the World Cup.

TEAMS

There will be a maximum of 32 teams in the tournament. 16 teams in the over 50s and 16 in the over 60s. You can enter a team in each age group or just one age group. No country or association can enter more than one team in any one age group.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

Please note that during the registration process we will require you to confirm player information on place of birth or minimum of 5 years residency. Evidence of a national selection process may also be requested. Maximum of three ex-professional players in any squad.
