Bali Appointed as Host Nation
The Federation of International Walking Football Associations (FIWFA) is proud to announce that Bali, Indonesia has been selected as the host nation for the inaugural FIWFA Asian Nations Cup, which will take place in January 2028.
This landmark announcement marks a significant milestone in the global growth of walking football, bringing the sport’s premier international competition format to Asia for the very first time. Bali was chosen following a competitive host application process, and its world-renowned sporting infrastructure, welcoming climate, and enthusiasm for the sport made it the outstanding choice for this historic event.
A Growing Global Movement
FIWFA now boasts 44 member associations worldwide, a testament to the rapid and sustained growth of walking football as a serious competitive sport. As the only internationally recognised governing body for walking football — formally acknowledged by FIFA — FIWFA continues to lead the development of the game at every level, from grassroots participation through to elite international competition.
Walking football was created to allow people of all ages and abilities to continue playing the beautiful game, with a particular focus on over-50s and those returning to sport after injury or illness. The Asian Nations Cup will further expand those opportunities, enabling players across the Asian continent to represent their nations on an international stage.
What to Expect in 2028
The Asian Nations Cup will follow the established FIWFA tournament format, bringing together national associations from across Asia to compete for continental honours. Full details regarding qualifying rounds, team registrations, and the tournament draw will be announced in due course via the official FIWFA website at www.fiwfa.org.
National associations wishing to register their interest in participation, or organisations looking to become involved as commercial partners, are encouraged to contact FIWFA directly.
“We are delighted to announce that Bali has been the successful host application for the inaugural Asian Nations Cup. The tournament will be taking place in January 2028.”
